We finally went shoe shopping yesterday, which was really fun. We followed the reccomendations of our friends and the guidebook and went to a half dozen or so stores. In contrast to some of the stories we had heard, the salespeople were very friendly and helpful (probably helped that we spoke to them in spanish, although a few knew english). The overall quality and selection was just great; shoes like this are almost impossible to find back home. The prices weren't super cheap, generally $60-$100 US per pair (not sure if that is a "tourist price"; few had price tags). In the end Kae bought an adorable pair at the muy famoso "Comme il Faut", where the shoes are all dazzeling:
I bought two pairs, one classico and the other a bit more fancy:
This is a great big tree in a park nearby that caught our eye; I think it might be the same type as in the patio of La Note restaurant in Berkeley:
Today it has been raining all day. The maid came by to clean up and also showed us a new use for a bidet:
Later tonight we are going to a milonga; tomorrow we have reservations at a Jewish(!)restaurant which is supposed to be very good. Buenos Aires actually has a sizable Jewish population but most of the monuments are under pretty tight security and its not possible to visit - I'm trying to get in touch with http://www.jewish-tours.com.ar/ to see if we can arrange something.
Thats it for now, more later!

Ohmigawd SHOES! It looks like you guys are having a blast!
I've been a little embarassed for you both at your lack of shoes.
Glad to see you are doing something about it!
My, isn't that shoe video colorful. The shoes you both got are nice, too.
