Jewish mother meal, relaxing weekend

The Jewish restaurant was a "closed door", meaning private, room in a woman's house. She made us a five course meal which was out of this world delicious. We forgot the camera so I don't have any pictures but here is what I remember:

Bread, egg-and-liver spread, pickles, mayonaise type stuff

Gifilte fish (really good, not like the stuff in a bottle), some other kind of fish loaf

Borscht w/ cream, knishes

Beef in sweet sauce, potato dumplings kinda like the cheese dumplings my grandparents made, farfelle

blinzes and candied fruits

Strudle, tea and cookies

Both of our meals, with a bottle of wine, was like $40 total which makes it by far the most expensive meal we've had here :-)

It was all very delicious, but it was also way too much food and she kept feeding us more and so I ended up with a bit of a stomache ache.

Over the weekend we mostly laid low, but we did do some more shopping and visited the botanical gardens which had a fish pond, lots of nice classical looking statues, and a lot of friendly gatos. We also got ice cream :-)

that pic of ben w/the gourd: ben's eyes look awful relaxed for there to be any stimulant there...

Now I'm hungry. That food sounds wonderful. But I'd have to spread it over at least 3 meals, especially since she'd probably be hurt if one only took tiny tastes of each item.
